Let us tell you a little about ourselves. Ian spent most of his working life as a journalist in the Lake District, London, Aberdeen and Manchester, working on large regional daily newspapers and as a freelance for the national press.
Georgina has mainly worked in Manchester city centre, as an office administrator and in various training roles.
Together, we opened the Café On The Green, in Beech Road, Chorlton, Manchester – the first restaurant in what has become the hub of south Manchester’s social scene, and also ran the nine-bed Kempton House Hotel in Chorlton for a number of years before turning it into flats.
A|ong the way we also dabbled in property, and found time to have our daughter Jenny – now all grown up and working with teenagers with mental health problems. The Old Workhouse B&B is our latest venture.
Ian has written several books, the latest and most popular to date among the 200 or so who have read it, and he still waits…waits…waits…for the big breakthrough. Any day now??? More details of the book can be found on ianmarrowauthor.com – why not join an exclusive club and buy one?
We bought the old workhouse in 2015 and since then have poured our time and efforts into renovating the building – not an easy task as when we bought it the building had been empty for 17 years. The roof was rotten and needed replacing, the floors were falling in and it lacked plumbing, electricity, gas and drainage.
Why did we buy it? We are both totally bonkers!
